Senate President Godswill Akpabio has announced that the people of Akwa Ibom North-West Senatorial District, along with the broader Akwa Ibom State community, have unanimously endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Umo Eno, and himself as sole candidates for the 2027 general elections.
Speaking during the second phase of his constituency empowerment programme, which featured the distribution of items to over 3,000 beneficiaries and commissioning of various projects, Akpabio said the decision reflects the unity and peace currently being enjoyed in the state.
He commended Governor Umo Eno for fostering a peaceful atmosphere across the state, describing him as a man of peace whose leadership is rooted in integrity and godliness.
According to Akpabio, the collaboration between Governor Eno and President Tinubu has been instrumental in attracting development and federal attention to the state.
“President Tinubu is pleased with the progress and peace in Akwa Ibom, made possible through this strong partnership,” Akpabio noted.
During the event, the Senate President sought a public endorsement for the trio to continue in their respective roles beyond 2027.
The crowd responded with a resounding voice vote in support of the motion.
As part of the empowerment initiative, Akpabio distributed various items including mini buses, cars, tricycles, sewing machines, refrigerators, cargo tricycles, as well as cash grants exceeding N2 billion.
He also awarded scholarships to constituents from across the three senatorial districts in Akwa Ibom State.
