Young lady caught in Nasarawa for supplying ammunition to Katsina-based criminals

A 21-year-old woman identified as Fatima Salisu has been taken into custody by the Nasarawa State Police Command over allegations of arms smuggling, following credible intelligence.

The arrest was confirmed in a press release issued Thursday by the command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Ramhan Nansel.

According to the statement, Salisu was allegedly ferrying ammunition through Keana and Doma local government areas of Nasarawa, en route to criminal groups in Katsina, where she is believed to reside.

Acting on the intelligence report, the Commissioner of Police, CP Shetima J. Mohammed, ordered the immediate deployment of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit.

The unit responded promptly and successfully apprehended the suspect, recovering 400 rounds of 7.62x39mm ammunition and 81 rounds of 7.62mm NATO ammunition during the operation.

Salisu is currently undergoing intense interrogation as law enforcement officials intensify efforts to dismantle the larger arms trafficking network and investigate its potential links to armed banditry and terrorist activities.

The police spokesperson hailed the arrest as a major milestone in the command’s ongoing crackdown on illegal arms circulation and regional insecurity.
