Association of Community Pharmacists of Nigeria (ACPN), has declared that the fight against malaria scourge in Nigeria require collective efforts of the government, the citizens and other stakeholders.
ACPN National Chairman, Pharmacist Ambrose Igwekanma Ezeh, made this declaration on Tuesday when he paid a courtesy visit to Geneith Pharmaceuticals ahead of a health competition aimed to tackle malaria scourge among Nigerian youths.
The meeting was attended by other members who are involved in the competition among whom are Mr. Umenwa Emmanuel, Prince Cletus Ilobanafor, Udeh Judith, Okechukwu Simeon and Bimbo Bowoto.
ACPN while addressing the gathering decried the prevalence of malaria in Nigeria.
He however said that efforts of governments at all levels, citizens and other stakeholders are needed to tackle the menace.
He said that “The fight against malaria is a collective effort. It requires the involvement of all sectors, government, private organizations, and communities to devise innovative solutions that make a real impact.”
Emmanuel while speaking, said that the competition will go a long way to expose the strategies to tackle malaria scourge in the country.
“We decided to fund this project as a way of supporting the fight against malaria. Eliminating this disease in Nigeria will become a realistic goal, especially since our target audience youth and students are the driving force behind any vision that needs to be realized”.
Ilobanafor, in his own contribution expressed strong support for the Geneith Health Competition, describing it as a historic milestone in youth engagement.
He remarked, that the initiative was designed to empower the youth and ensure that we can win this fight against malaria in the shortest time possible.
“The youth are energetic, innovative, and possess the potential to be change-makers”.
