The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has begun the rescheduling process for 379,997 candidates affected by technical disruptions during the recent Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

The announcement was made on Wednesday by JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, during a press briefing in Abuja, with the rescheduling starting Thursday morning.

Prof. Oloyede disclosed that 206,610 candidates were affected in 65 centres across Lagos, while another 173,387 candidates from 92 centres across the South-East region—covering Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu, and Imo—also experienced disruptions.

He admitted there were shortcomings in the conduct of the examination and accepted full responsibility for the issues.

“I sincerely apologise for the challenges faced and take full responsibility,” he stated, assuring that affected candidates would begin receiving notifications with new exam details via text message.

A reprinted slip obtained by PUNCH showed that one of the affected candidates has now been scheduled to sit for the exam on Saturday, May 17, 2025, by 12 p.m. at a centre in the Igando area of Alimosho Local Government, Lagos State.

JAMB has reiterated its commitment to ensuring that the rescheduled exams are conducted smoothly and without further technical setbacks.
