Bandits attack Katsina community, kill one, injure another, abduct several

A fresh wave of insecurity struck Katsina State as suspected bandits launched a deadly night attack on Dungun Mu’azu community in Sabuwa Local Government Area, leaving one person dead, another injured, and several residents abducted.

The incident, which occurred late Wednesday night, has sent shockwaves across the region as locals continue to live in fear of rising banditry in Nigeria’s northwest.

Confirming the attack, a northern-based security analyst, Bakatsine, told reporters that the gunmen stormed the village around 11 p.m., firing sporadically and causing panic among residents.

“One person was shot dead, another was seriously injured, and many others were kidnapped during the attack,” Bakatsine said.

“These communities are increasingly vulnerable, and security presence is either delayed or insufficient.”

Residents say the attackers operated unchallenged for over an hour before leaving with the abducted victims.

Local authorities are yet to release an official statement, but sources say security operatives have begun a manhunt to rescue the victims and apprehend the perpetrators.

This incident adds to the growing list of violent attacks plaguing rural communities in Katsina State
