Police open up on supplying bandits with food via helicopter

Must read

The Nigeria Police Force has denied online allegations suggesting that one of its helicopters was used to supply food to bandits in Kogi State.

In a statement on Tuesday, the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, said the claims circulating on social media were inaccurate and intended to mislead the public.

He explained that the viral footage showing a helicopter landing in a wooded area was actually taken during a security operation in Obajana on Saturday, May 10, 2025.

The police clarified that the helicopter was part of a joint security effort involving various security outfits, local vigilantes, and hunters, aimed at confronting banditry and other forms of crime in the area.

Adejobi emphasised that the aircraft was deployed for surveillance and to support ground forces during the operation, not to deliver any supplies to criminal elements. He described the allegations as “completely unfounded and misleading.”

The Force advised Nigerians to disregard the reports and seek information from verified police channels. It also restated its commitment to working with partners to maintain law and order nationwide.
