Bandits demand ₦60m ransom from Katsina community, threaten violence

Bandits have reportedly placed a ₦60 million ransom on the residents of Tashar Kaɗanya, a village located in Kankara Local Government Area of Katsina State, with threats of an attack if the money is not paid.

The information was shared by security analyst @DanKatsina50 on his X account on Monday.

According to the analyst, the bandits have set a deadline for the payment, causing many residents to flee in fear for their lives.

While security officials have yet to release an official statement on the matter, this latest incident highlights the ongoing security challenges in Katsina State, where banditry continues to plague various regions, despite government efforts to curb the violence.

Kankara LGA has been a frequent target of bandit attacks, including kidnappings for ransom.

The recent demand for a large sum of money from the community is likely to escalate the already tense security and humanitarian situation in the area.
