Former Governor of Benue State, Chief Samuel Ortom, has extended his congratulations to three indigenes of the state who were recently appointed by President Bola Tinubu to serve on the board of the North Central Development Commission (NCDC).
The appointees include Barrister Cosmas Akighir, who will serve as Chairman of the Commission; Hon. James Abel Uloko, appointed as Executive Director; and Engr. Abraham Atotse, who was named as a board member.
In a congratulatory message issued on Sunday, Ortom described the appointments as putting “round pegs in round holes,” expressing confidence in the ability of the trio to effectively steer the newly established commission.
The former governor noted that the NCDC has a critical role to play in addressing the challenges facing the North Central region, particularly in communities affected by violent attacks from armed herders and insurgent groups.
“I have no doubt that Akighir, Uloko, and Atotse will bring their vast experience and commitment to service in helping the commission fulfil its mandate,” Ortom said.
He wished the appointees a successful and impactful tenure as they take up their roles in the commission.
The North Central Development Commission was created to drive reconstruction, development, and stability across states in the region impacted by conflict and underdevelopment.
