Obidient movement hits back at Akpabio for mocking Peter Obi

The Obidient Movement has lashed out at Senate President Godswill Akpabio following his recent criticism of Labour Party leader, Peter Obi.

Akpabio had taken a swipe at Obi, suggesting that his inability to settle leadership wrangles within his party casts doubt on his fitness to govern a diverse nation like Nigeria.

However, in a statement issued in Awka on Saturday, the Obidient Movement fired back, accusing Akpabio of being both hypocritical and reckless in his speech.

Nana Kazaure, the group’s Director of Strategic Communication and Media, alleged that the turmoil within the Labour Party is being artificially sustained by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), which she claims is backing the removed LP chairman, Julius Abure, through the use of state security forces.

Kazaure criticised the Senate under Akpabio’s stewardship, labelling it the worst the country has ever seen.

She condemned his recent comments as “a disgraceful low,” especially in light of the Supreme Court’s prior judgment that dismissed Abure’s claim to the party’s leadership.

According to Kazaure, instead of complying with the court’s decision, the APC has continued to prop up Abure in defiance of the law.

She argued that the Senate President’s attempt to depict Obi as incapable is misleading and serves only to distract from the ruling party’s interference.

Kazaure concluded by emphasising Obi’s solid track record and asserting that Akpabio lacks the credibility to challenge the former Anambra governor’s integrity and public service legacy.
