Zulum orders immediate ban of petrol in Bama

Must read

Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno has instituted an immediate ban on the sale of petrol in filling stations across Bama Local Government Area, which includes both Bama town and Banki.

This move comes after consultations with security agencies as part of the ongoing efforts to address security concerns in the region.

Malam Dauda Iliya, the governor’s Special Adviser on Media and Strategy, confirmed the directive in a statement issued on Saturday from Maiduguri.

“The sale of petrol is hereby prohibited in Bama town, Banki, and all other parts of the local government area, effective immediately,” Zulum said.

He warned that those who disregard the ban will face strict legal actions, stating, “There will be no exceptions in enforcing this order. Security forces have been given clear instructions to take decisive action against any individual or filling station violating the directive. Offenders will be held fully accountable.”

The governor reiterated his administration’s commitment to restoring lasting peace in Borno and called for the continued cooperation of residents in the fight against insurgency.

Governor Zulum’s administration has consistently implemented strategies aimed at disrupting insurgent supplies and limiting their movements within conflict zones.
