Escalating Tensions in India, Pakistan as attacks linger amid rising conflict

Must read

Pakistan has denied accusations from India that it was behind a series of airstrikes targeting Indian territory, following claims from India’s defense ministry that Pakistan launched missile and drone attacks.

On Thursday, India accused Pakistan of carrying out strikes in the Indian-administered region of Kashmir and on a military installation in Punjab.

The Integrated Defence Staff, which coordinates among India’s armed forces, stated on social media that the threat was “neutralized,” and no casualties were reported.

In response, Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry rejected India’s allegations, calling them “baseless and irresponsible.” Pakistani Information Minister Attaullah Tarar further clarified that Pakistan had not targeted any locations in Indian-administered Kashmir or along the international border.

Indian media reported that explosions in Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday evening caused panic among residents.

Additionally, India reported that a drone struck the airport in Jammu, which houses an air force facility, prompting the activation of India’s air defense system.

Shesh Paul Vaid, the former police chief of Jammu and Kashmir, described the explosions as “suspected bombing, shelling, or missile strikes” on social media.

Earlier on Thursday, India claimed it had launched airstrikes on several locations in Pakistan, including an air defense system in Lahore, a major city near the border.

India’s military stated it had responded to an attempt by Pakistan to target military installations in northern and western India, with drones and missiles aimed at 15 cities.

The attack was reportedly thwarted, but there has been no confirmation from Pakistan.

On Wednesday night, Pakistan’s military confirmed that a civilian had died in Sindh province due to debris from a downed drone.

Local media also reported additional casualties, bringing the death toll from Indian airstrikes to more than 30, with over 57 others wounded, including women, children, and soldiers.

India’s military also reported 13 deaths from Pakistani artillery fire on Wednesday night, including one soldier.

As both countries continue to retaliate, the conflict appears to be spiraling, with mounting casualties and no immediate resolution in sight.
