Kaduna Polytechnic has expelled 63 students and suspended 36 others over academic misconduct, ranging from examination malpractice to fraudulent entry into the institution.
This action was finalised at the institution’s 114th Academic Board meeting on April 30, 2025.
In a memo dated May 5 and signed by Deputy Registrar (Academic Affairs), Abdullahi Muhammad, it was stated that Registrar Muhammed Tanimu disseminated the board’s decisions to the school community.
The disciplinary measures stemmed from the findings of two panels: one that probed illegal admissions and another that investigated exam-related offences.
The panels — namely, the Fraudulent Admission and Related Matters Investigation Committee (FARMIC) and the Examination Misconduct Cases and Malpractice Committee (EMCMC) — submitted separate reports, which formed the basis of the sanctions.
According to FARMIC’s findings, five students, including Essien Margret Lawrence and Maryam Nasir, were found to have entered the institution through fraudulent means and have now been dismissed.
On the other hand, EMCMC implicated over 70 students across several faculties — including Mass Communication, Civil Engineering, Architecture, Public Administration, and Building Technology — for violating examination rules.
Those expelled include Lawrence Samuel Anto (Building Technology), Fauziya Abdulrahman Buba (Mass Communication), and Ibrahim Muhammed Nazeer (Civil Engineering).
Some students, such as Joseline Beauty Jonah and Muazu Umar, were issued suspensions for their roles.
Nonetheless, a few students were acquitted after a thorough investigation. Among them was Abubakar Ibrahim Ashir from Computer Science, who was cleared of any misconduct.
Kaduna Polytechnic has reiterated its zero-tolerance policy for academic dishonesty, pledging to maintain discipline and credibility within its academic environment.
