The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ilorin Zonal Command, has arrested 47 individuals suspected of internet fraud in a statewide operation carried out on Thursday in Kwara.
According to a statement released by the commission’s media office, the arrests followed credible intelligence reports linking the suspects to cybercrime-related activities.
The coordinated sweep took place in various areas of the state, including Awolowo Road, Tanke, Harmony Estate in Ilorin, as well as Ganmo and Amoyo in Ifelodun Local Government Area.
Items reportedly recovered during the operation include 10 luxury vehicles, 74 mobile phones, 18 laptops, and a motorcycle, believed to be proceeds from the alleged crimes.
The EFCC noted that further investigations are underway, and the suspects will face legal charges upon conclusion of inquiries.
