Three civilian JTF members killed, one injured in Bandit ambush in Niger

Three members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (JTF) lost their lives while one sustained injuries following a deadly ambush by armed bandits in Wamba Village, located in the Bangi area of Mariga Local Government Area, Niger State.

According to sources who spoke with Zagazola Makama, the incident unfolded around 10:30 a.m. on May 5. A large group of gunmen stormed the village in what appeared to be an attempted mass abduction of residents.

Security operatives, including members of the Civilian JTF, responded swiftly and successfully pushed back the attackers.

Unfortunately, as the armed men retreated, they launched a surprise attack on a four-man JTF patrol team.

The ambush led to the deaths of Adamu Babandole, Mani Muhammed, and Salisu Ma’aji, while a fourth member, Isah Amodu, was shot in the hand and injured.

Police authorities later arrived at the scene, taking both the deceased and the wounded to the General Hospital in Bangi.
