A young woman, Joy Tale, aged 22, has tragically lost her life after reportedly being attacked by her landlord’s son, Odunayo Olomolatan, 41, in Ode-Irele, located in Irele Local Government Area of Ondo State.
According to reports, the incident occurred on Monday following an argument between the two. The confrontation allegedly escalated, resulting in the fatal attack.
The spokesperson for the Ondo State Police Command, Olayinka Ayanlade, confirmed the development in a phone conversation with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
He stated that the suspect has been apprehended and is currently being held at the Divisional Police Headquarters in Ode-Irele.
“Yes, the young woman was allegedly attacked and killed during a dispute involving her and her landlord’s son,” Ayanlade said. “The suspect has been taken into custody, and a full investigation is underway to determine the events that led to her death.”
In response to the incident, Olajide Akinfe, Chairman of Irele Local Government Area, has urged residents to remain calm and allow the law to take its course.
He confirmed that he visited the police station and assured the public that necessary steps have been taken to ensure justice is served.
Authorities have promised a thorough investigation to uncover the full circumstances surrounding the tragic event.
