A violent robbery in the early hours of Sunday, May 5, 2025, led to the death of a 30-year-old man, Shehu Muhammad, during an attack at his home in Danbare Quarters, Kano.
The Kano State Police Command, in a statement released by its spokesperson, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, confirmed that the incident occurred around 6:40 a.m. when two armed individuals broke into the victim’s residence and attacked him with a sharp weapon, leaving him with severe injuries.
Acting swiftly on the report, the Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, dispatched a team of operatives and detectives to the scene.
The victim was immediately transported to Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital but was pronounced dead by medical staff.
One of the attackers, identified as 20-year-old Aliyu Umar, was arrested at the location of the crime. Authorities also recovered the weapon allegedly used in the assault.
Police officials stated that Umar is currently assisting with ongoing investigations and will be formally charged once inquiries are complete.
The Command commended the rapid response of local residents in notifying law enforcement and aiding in the apprehension of the suspect.
It also urged members of the public to remain alert and report any suspicious activity, reaffirming its dedication to protecting lives and maintaining peace across the state.
