Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court in Abuja has expelled Favour Kanu, a sister-in-law of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) leader Nnamdi Kanu, from the courtroom for livestreaming proceedings on social media.
As gathered by AFRIPOST, the judge discovered the unauthorized broadcast during the session and promptly barred her from attending the next three hearings.
Though Justice Omotosho considered holding her in contempt, he was persuaded otherwise by the defence counsel, Kanu Agabi.
Calling Favour to the front, the judge questioned her motives, saying, “I want to hear from her. Were you not the one I took the phone from? I never ordered the phone to be seized. I’m not even sure if she’s his wife.”
In response, Favour offered an apology and assured the court that it would not happen again.
Nnamdi Kanu is currently facing trial on charges related to terrorism brought against him by the Nigerian government.
