All members of the House of Representatives from Delta State elected under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have formally switched allegiance to the All Progressives Congress (APC) as of Tuesday, May 6, 2025.
The announcement was made during plenary by House Speaker Tajudeen Abbas, who read letters from each defector.
The lawmakers attributed their decision to unresolved leadership issues and internal strife within the PDP, both at the regional and national levels.
Those who defected include Victor Onyemaechi Nwokolo (Ika North East/Ika South), Julius Gbabojor Pondi (Burutu), Thomas Ereyitomi (Warri North/Warri South/Warri South West), and Nicholas Ebomo Mutu (Bomadi/Patani).
Their exit follows a recent wave of high-profile defections from the PDP in Delta.
Governor Sheriff Oborevwori had earlier abandoned the party alongside his deputy, commissioners, and key PDP figures in the state.
Former Delta Governor and 2023 PDP vice presidential candidate, Ifeanyi Okowa, also left the party.
Both leaders were officially welcomed into the APC during a major rally in Asaba, attended by Vice President Kashim Shettima, APC National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje, several APC governors, and party loyalists.
