Aminu Dahiru Ahmad, the Senior Special Assistant on Visual Communication and Events to the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has responded to public reactions following a viral video showing a police orderly tying Ganduje’s shoelaces.

AFRIPOST gathered that the clip, which surfaced on Monday, stirred debate on social media, with many criticising the former Kano State governor.

However, Ahmad, in an interview with Daily Trust, dismissed the backlash as a calculated attack by political opponents aiming to smear Ganduje’s reputation.

He insisted that the video reflects the close and respectful bond between Ganduje and his aides, rather than any act of subjugation.

“That short video only highlights how warmly Dr. Ganduje relates to those around him. His staff are always comfortable in his presence, and he consistently treats them with dignity,” Ahmad said.

Describing Ganduje as a humble and down-to-earth leader, Ahmad added, “He doesn’t entertain flattery or a superiority complex. I’ve worked closely with him for nearly a decade, and he treats me like a son.”

He further claimed that opposition figures were behind the circulation of the clip in a bid to stir controversy and score political points.

“Their attempt to create a scandal will not reduce Ganduje’s standing. He served Kano with distinction and is now playing a vital role at the national level,” he stated.

Ahmad also pointed to recent high-profile defections to the APC, including Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and former Vice Presidential candidate Ifeanyi Okowa, as proof that the party, under Ganduje’s leadership, is gaining strength and momentum.
