The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has released a detailed analysis of the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), shedding light on nationwide student performance.
From the 1,955,069 candidates who sat for the exam this year, more than 1.5 million were unable to attain scores up to 200, highlighting a significant performance gap.
Meanwhile, JAMB disclosed that only 4,756 students surpassed the 320 mark, while 7,658 scored within the 300 to 319 range.
The Board also revealed that 40,247 minors were allowed to sit for the exam under a special provision for gifted candidates.
However, just 467 of them—representing 1.16%—achieved results qualifying them as exceptionally talented, pending evaluations in three subsequent stages.
