NIPOST to go cashless nationwide from July 1

Must read

Starting July 1, 2025, the Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST) will no longer accept cash payments at any of its post office counters across the country.

This announcement was made on Monday through a statement issued by Franklin Alao, Director of Corporate Communications at NIPOST. The agency stated that all transactions must be completed using designated electronic payment channels.

The move is part of broader reforms aimed at transforming NIPOST into a more modern, tech-driven institution in line with global standards.

The reforms are themed “Change of Renewed Hope Berths at NIPOST Shores” and are aligned with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

“A key component of the reform is the shift to a cashless payment model. Effective July 1, 2025, post office counters nationwide will no longer handle cash payments. Customers will need to utilize authorized electronic platforms for all services,” the statement read.

NIPOST emphasized that the shift to digital transactions will enhance service efficiency, safety, and transparency. The agency aims to position itself at the heart of Nigeria’s digital transformation, with a renewed focus on “Connecting Nigeria, Delivering Solutions, and Improving Lives.”

The organization also expressed appreciation to the Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Dr. Bosun Tijani, for his continued guidance and encouragement.
