Missing Babcock University student found after public outcry

Must read

The search for Oladipupo Siwajuola, a student of Babcock University, Ilishan Remo, has ended after his mother, Fijabi Oyindamola Omotayo, confirmed on Saturday that he had been found.

Omotayo, who had earlier taken to social media in a desperate plea for help to locate her son, announced his recovery in a brief Facebook post, simply stating, “My son has been found.”

Her cry for help had sparked widespread concern online, particularly after she emotionally appealed to the public and security agencies via a live video on Saturday.

In the video, she explained that she personally dropped her son off at the university on the evening of Sunday, April 27, but had not been able to reach or locate him in the following days.

The university has since acknowledged the development.

Speaking to our correspondent on Sunday, the institution’s Director of Marketing and Communications, Dr. Joshua Suleiman, confirmed they were aware the student had been found.

“Yes, we are aware,” Suleiman stated in a WhatsApp message when asked to confirm the mother’s post.

As of the time of filing this report, specific details about where and how Siwajuola was found remain unclear.
