Cross River govt to review safety measures at Obudu Ranch after fatal crash

Must read

The Cross River State government has announced a review of safety protocols at the Obudu Ranch Resort following a tragic accident that claimed four lives and injured nine others near the Ikwette community hill.

Governor Bassey Otu made this known in a statement issued on Sunday by his Chief Press Secretary, Nsa Gil. He said the incident, which occurred on Saturday, involved a vehicle carrying 13 passengers, believed to be seminarians from the Enugu Catholic Diocese.

Preliminary findings suggest the crash, which happened just outside the main premises of the resort, may have been caused by brake failure.

Emergency responders, including soldiers stationed at the ranch, were on the scene quickly to assist the victims.

“The vehicle was carrying seminarians led by a reverend father, who had just concluded a tour of the ranch before the crash occurred,” the governor stated.

He added that the state government is currently reaching out to the victims’ families to offer support and assistance during this difficult time.

Governor Otu urged visitors to the ranch to ensure their vehicles are in good condition and to strictly adhere to all safety regulations while travelling in the area. He also appealed for empathy and privacy for the bereaved families as they mourn their loved ones.
