Borno IDP camp occupying 10,000 residents set to be decommissioned

Must read

Governor Babagana Zulum has confirmed that the Muna IDP camp in Maiduguri will be shut down within two weeks, continuing his administration’s resettlement strategy for displaced persons in Borno State.

The announcement came during an early morning visit to the camp, which at its peak, was among the most populated displacement centres in the state.

With a majority of its occupants—estimated at 75%—already resettled, the governor emphasized that the camp’s closure is part of his broader plan to end reliance on temporary shelters.

Zulum, who has overseen the closure of over twelve formal camps during his tenure, also pledged fresh support to help the remaining 10,000 IDPs reintegrate and rebuild their livelihoods.
