A Lagos State High Court has handed down a death sentence to BRT driver Andrew Ominikoron for the murder of 22-year-old Oluwabamise Ayanwola.
Justice Sherifat Sonaike delivered the ruling on Friday at the Tafawa Balewa Square annex, affirming that the prosecution had presented sufficient evidence to prove the case beyond reasonable doubt.
Ominikoron was convicted on multiple charges, including murder, rape, and conspiracy.
The case also involved additional charges related to the sexual assault of Dr. Anosike Victoria and the rape of Maryland Ojiezelu.
This verdict concludes a high-profile trial that began following Ayanwola’s disappearance from a BRT bus in 2022, with her body later discovered, marking the tragic culmination of the case.
