Chikaosolu Ojukwu, the lawyer representing Aisha Achimugu, CEO of Felak Concept Group and Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s associate, expressed satisfaction with the recent court ruling that ordered her release from the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
In a statement following the Federal High Court’s decision on Wednesday, Ojukwu hailed the ruling as a significant victory for the justice system, reinforcing the strength of Nigeria’s legal framework.
“The Federal High Court in Abuja has issued an order for the immediate release of Mrs. Aisha Achimugu from EFCC custody,” Ojukwu confirmed.
He emphasized that the ruling, issued by Justice Inyang Ekwo, affirmed the core tenet of the Nigerian Constitution: that every individual is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
Ojukwu explained that Achimugu had been detained by the EFCC on Tuesday over allegations of money laundering and fraud.
He called the court’s decision a landmark moment, illustrating Nigeria’s commitment to upholding justice and due process.
“This ruling highlights that the Nigerian legal system is unwavering in its adherence to the principle of fairness and justice,” the lawyer added, reiterating the presumption of innocence until proven otherwise in a court of law.
