Peter Obi’s former campaign coordinator, LP secretary defect to PDP

Titus Odo, the publicity secretary of the Labour Party in Enugu, has officially joined the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), marking a significant shift in the local political landscape.

Odo was accompanied by Emeka Mamah, the former commissioner for chieftaincy affairs in Enugu and the state coordinator for Peter Obi’s presidential campaign during the 2023 elections.

Both Odo and Mamah had previously left the PDP during the 2023 general elections to support the Labour Party but have now returned to their original political home.

The duo was warmly received at the PDP state secretariat by the party’s state chairman, Martin Chukwunwike, who expressed his delight at their return.

Chukwunwike explained that Governor Peter Mbah had directed the party to bring back disillusioned members who had left in the past.

“We are pleased to welcome them back, and we believe this is a sign of good things to come. With God’s guidance, the PDP is set for a strong 2027,” Chukwunwike said.

He also called for unity within the party, emphasizing the need for all members to work together to prepare for the upcoming 2027 elections.

During their presentation, Odo spoke fondly of his return to the PDP, attributing his decision to Governor Mbah’s impressive development efforts in the state.

“I am glad to be back home. Governor Mbah’s remarkable achievements in Enugu, particularly in the areas of development, played a key role in my decision,” he said.

Odo also cited the defection of his former boss, Dr. Chijioke Edeoga, the Labour Party’s governorship candidate in 2023, as another motivating factor.

Mamah also expressed his gratitude for being welcomed back into the PDP fold, thanking the leadership of the party in Igboeze North, Enugu North senatorial zone, and the state chapter.

He praised Governor Mbah for fostering an inclusive political environment, adding, “I am personally impressed by the governor’s performance, and I look forward to contributing to the party’s success.”
