Lere Olayinka, a spokesperson for the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory and former Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has taken a swipe at former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, accusing him of being a persistent threat to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) since 2003.
In a statement shared via his X (formerly Twitter) handle, Olayinka criticized those who previously opposed Wike’s rise within the party, particularly as Vice President, claiming they feared he would be too powerful to control.
“They told us then that Wike will be too strong as Vice President, it will be difficult to control him, bla bla bla,” he wrote.
He further questioned the credibility of those making such claims, saying, “Person wey never win election dey talk about who will be difficult to control as Vice President.”
Olayinka also lamented the internal division within the PDP, suggesting that loyal members like Wike were wrongly labelled. “Then too, they termed us as disloyal to the party,” he added.
Taking a direct shot at Atiku, he concluded, “Since 2003, Atiku has remained the weapon formed against PDP.”
