Wanted CBEX promoter surrenders to EFCC

Must read

Adefowora Abiodun, one of the individuals allegedly behind the cryptocurrency trading platform, Crypto Bridge Exchange (CBEX), has voluntarily presented himself to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for questioning.

Abiodun, accompanied by his legal team, arrived at the EFCC headquarters around 4 p.m. on Monday, April 28.

He expressed a willingness to assist investigators in their probe into the alleged multi-billion-dollar fraud linked to CBEX.

Just last week, the EFCC declared Abiodun and seven others wanted in connection with a suspected fraudulent investment scheme reportedly worth over $1 billion.

In response to an EFCC application, Justice Emeka Nwite of the Federal High Court in Abuja authorized the arrest and detention of the suspects pending the outcome of the investigation and potential legal proceedings.

In his ruling, Justice Nwite stated:
“I have listened to the submission of learned counsel for the applicant (EFCC).

“I have also gone through the affidavit evidence and exhibits, along with the written address.

“I am satisfied that the application is meritorious and hereby grant it as prayed.”

Abiodun’s legal representative, Babatunde Busari, Esq., explained that his client chose to turn himself in to dispel false impressions and demonstrate his readiness to clear his name.

“He has decided to submit himself for investigation to clear his name and correct the narrative in the media,” Busari said.
