Cleric, two family members executed by Zamfara bandits over ransom delay

Must read

A devastating loss has hit Zamfara State as armed bandits reportedly executed a prominent Islamic cleric, Malam Salisu, along with two members of his family, after holding them hostage for two months.

The victims were allegedly killed due to a delay in meeting the ransom demands set by their captors.

The amount demanded by the gunmen remains undisclosed.

However, sources suggest that the assailants grew impatient over the prolonged negotiations, leading to the brutal killings.

Security analyst Bakatsine broke the news on Tuesday via his X account: “Bandits who abducted Imam Malam Salisu two months ago have killed him, along with two of his family members who were also held captive.

“This heartbreaking news comes as bandits continue to wreak havoc across several communities in Zamfara.”

The incident has ignited outrage and grief within the local community, as many mourn the loss of the respected imam.

His death underscores the persistent insecurity plaguing northern Nigeria, where kidnappings, killings, and violent attacks by armed groups have become frequent.

As of press time, neither the police nor government officials have issued an official response regarding the tragic event.
