Prolonged blackouts, water scarcity spark fresh protests at Adamawa polytechnic

Must read

Adamawa State Polytechnic students in Yola have again taken to the streets, blocking all school gates as they decry a week-long blackout and water shortage.

The latest protest, the third in just two months, underscores mounting tensions on campus over what students describe as a neglect of basic needs.

They are demanding quick action from both the school’s leadership and the state authorities.

One student, who requested anonymity, said, “It’s becoming unbearable. Studying is almost impossible when there’s no light or water for days.”

Another protester added, “We’ve complained and protested before but got no lasting solution. We deserve better living and learning conditions.”

The lack of electricity and water has severely disrupted daily activities and academic work, with fears rising about how this might affect students’ performance in upcoming examinations.

While the demonstration continues, the polytechnic’s management has yet to release an official statement.

The students, however, remain firm in their calls for immediate government intervention to end the prolonged hardship.
