Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has acknowledged the presence of party members working against his re-election within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), following the recent resignation of House of Representatives member, Mr. Wole Oke.

In a statement released by his spokesperson, Mr. Olawale Rasheed, Governor Adeleke expressed confidence in the party’s resilience, assuring PDP members of his unwavering commitment to delivering the promised dividends of democracy to the people of Osun.

He also emphasized the importance of loyalty among party members.

Addressing Oke’s resignation, Adeleke reassured the party that it had not lost any genuine supporters.

He stated, “We know how we got to Government House and the individuals God used to make it possible. We are aware of those who tried to stop us then and those who opposed us but have since embraced our good governance approach.”

The governor continued, “We also have a verified list of individuals who have continued to oppose us since 2022. However, our party now has a larger membership base, with many defectors from the opposition. We have grown stronger and have gained new supporters across party lines.”

Adeleke emphasized that the PDP’s expansion was due to the success of his administration, which he claimed had benefitted all constituencies fairly, citing the appointment of members from various federal constituencies into his cabinet.

He also mentioned the inclusive nature of the state’s infrastructure and local content programs, which, according to him, provided equal opportunities to all corners of Osun.

The governor reassured his party members that the administration’s focus remains on grassroots mobilization and on ensuring that the will of the people prevails.

He also noted that the ongoing disputes within the local government system would be resolved in accordance with the rule of law.

Lastly, Adeleke thanked the groups and individuals endorsing his re-election and reaffirmed his commitment to sustaining a strong PDP and effective governance for the people of Osun State.
