Adamawa Gov suspends Emir over corruption allegations

Must read

Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State has ordered the indefinite suspension of the Emir of Daware, Alhaji Hassan Ja’afaru, over allegations of corruption and misconduct.

Ja’afaru, who previously served as the district head of Daware in Fufore Local Government Area, was found guilty after an investigation uncovered acts of corruption, poor administration, security breaches, and other violations.

The suspension was communicated through a letter dated April 25, 2025, signed by the Permanent Secretary of Chieftaincy Affairs, Adama Mamman, and made available to PUNCH Online on Sunday.

The letter instructed the embattled emir to immediately hand over all government properties in his possession to the secretary of the district.

The letter partly reads: “Following a series of complaints regarding maladministration, corruption, breach of security, confiscation of farmlands, and your prolonged absence from your domain, which has left traditional matters unattended, I am directed by the Executive Governor of Adamawa State, Ahmadu Fintiri, to suspend you from office indefinitely.

“You are, therefore, requested to hand over all government properties in your possession to the district scribe pending further actions.”

Governor Fintiri has repeatedly emphasized that his administration’s anti-corruption drive will cut across all sectors, with no exceptions.
