Police arrest suspect, recover firearm, ammunition during raid in Nasarawa

The Nasarawa State Police Command has arrested a 25-year-old man, Buhari Mustapha, during a raid on a known criminal hideout in the Masaka area of Karu Local Government Area.

The operation, carried out by operatives attached to the Masaka Division, was in line with the directive of the Commissioner of Police, CP Shettima Jauro Mohammed, who had ordered sustained raids on criminal hideouts across the state.

The raid took place at about 10:30 p.m. on April 25, 2025, at a spot popularly known as “Me and You.”

According to a statement issued on Saturday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ramhan Nansel, the suspect was found in possession of an English-made Beretta pistol with breech number APL-C42201378075, along with twelve rounds of 9mm live ammunition.

“A thorough search conducted on the suspect led to the recovery of a Beretta pistol and live ammunition, all of which have been taken as exhibits,” Nansel said.

The Commissioner of Police has ordered a full investigation into the incident with the aim of apprehending other criminal elements linked to the case and further curbing crime in the area.

Commending the officers for their efforts, CP Mohammed urged them to maintain the pressure on criminal elements.

“The officers are commended for their dedication and consistent pressure on criminals. They are urged to sustain the momentum in the fight against crime,” he said.
