A dramatic scene unfolded in Malaysia on Friday morning when a Nigerian man bit off part of a police officer’s ear during an attempted arrest at Metro Prima, Kepong.

Local reports from The New Straits Times stated that the Nigerian, who was reportedly causing a disturbance at a private medical clinic, had prompted staff to alert the police. Officers arrived at the scene around 10:03 a.m. to de-escalate the situation.

According to Kuala Lumpur police chief, Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa, the suspect initially appeared to cooperate and was being led to the patrol car. However, just as he reached the vehicle, he suddenly turned and bit the officer’s left ear, severing a portion of it.

Further investigation revealed that the 38-year-old man is enrolled as a student at a private institution in the country. He has since been taken into custody for questioning.

The injured officer was rushed to the hospital, where he is reported to be in stable condition and awaiting surgery to reattach the damaged part of his ear.
