Retired Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas, recently appointed as the Sole Administrator of Rivers State, participated in the National Economic Council (NEC) meeting held at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Thursday.
This marks Ibas’ first attendance at the NEC since his appointment by President Bola Tinubu in March 2025, following the suspension of Governor Siminalayi Fubara.
The meeting was chaired by Vice President Kashim Shettima and brought together several state governors as well as their deputies from across Nigeria’s 36 states.
Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, who officially joined the All Progressives Congress (APC) a day earlier, led the opening prayers at the behest of the Vice President.
Other notable attendees included Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue, Abdulrahman Abdulrazak of Kwara, Monday Okpebholo of Edo, and Cross River’s Bassey Otu, among others. A significant number of deputy governors were also present at the gathering.
