One dies as police, DSS operatives clash in Delta

Must read

A tragic incident unfolded on April 23 in Ibusa, Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta State, where a police officer was reportedly gunned down by personnel of the Department of State Services (DSS) during a confrontation at the residence of Chief Abuah Lucky.

According to intelligence relayed to security analyst Zagazola Makama, the event took place around 11:30 a.m. after law enforcement was called in to address a reported dispute.

Upon arrival, the lifeless body of Police Constable Michael Isuwa was discovered in a pool of blood outside the compound.

Constable Isuwa, who was attached to 48 PMF Ahoada in Rivers State but on assignment at Henric Empire Garden—an estate owned by Chief Lucky—was allegedly shot by DSS operatives under still-unclear circumstances. Local authorities responded swiftly to de-escalate the situation.

In the aftermath, seven DSS agents and two civilians were taken into custody in connection with the shooting.

The deceased officer’s body has since been transported to Ibusa General Hospital for autopsy as investigations continue.

The incident has sparked fresh concerns about inter-agency relations and the use of force among Nigeria’s security operatives.
