Alleged sexual assault victim not related to Seyi Tinubu – Police

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has dismissed claims circulating on social media that Ebunoluwa Fatoyinbo, the woman involved in an ongoing sexual assault investigation, is related to Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The clarification follows widespread online speculation linking Fatoyinbo to the President’s family, with some reports falsely identifying her as Seyi Tinubu’s sister.

The incident reportedly occurred in a gym basement, where Fatoyinbo alleged she was sexually assaulted by a man identified as Oscar Ilochi while working out alone.

The police have since begun reviewing CCTV footage from the facility as part of their inquiry.

In an official statement issued on Wednesday, FCT Police spokesperson Josephine Adeh confirmed that the command is investigating the case following a formal complaint filed by Fatoyinbo.

However, she made it clear that no family connection exists between the complainant and the Tinubu family.

“The FCT Police Command is aware of a publication circulating on social media suggesting that the Command is investigating a case of sexual assault involving Miss Ebunoluwa, alleged to be the sister of Mr. Seyi Tinubu, son of His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR,” the statement read.

“We wish to state clearly that while a formal complaint of sexual assault was indeed lodged by Miss Ebunoluwa Mitchell Fatoyinbo against one Oscar Ilochi, a resident of the Apo Legislative Quarters in Abuja, there is no evidence linking her to the Tinubu family.”

Adeh also called on media practitioners and the public to avoid spreading unverified information and to rely solely on official channels for updates on the investigation.
