Authorities in Niger State have arrested a key suspect linked to the death of Mohammed Amore, a local bank driver who was stabbed during a community security effort in Minna.
AFRIPOST had reported that the incident happened late on April 20 in Fadikpe when Amore and several vigilante members tried to break up a gathering of suspected criminals threatening the neighbourhood.
In the chaos, Amore was fatally stabbed by one of the suspects who fled the scene.
Police spokesperson SP Wasiu Abiodun confirmed the arrest of Nura Abdurahman, a chocolate vendor in Minna’s Kure market.
Abdurahman reportedly admitted to stabbing Amore with a shoemaker’s needle on the upper left side of his chest after being caught by the vigilantes.
Before his arrest on April 22, Abdurahman had escaped to Abuja. His location was eventually uncovered through efforts by local residents and his relatives.
Another suspect, Abdullahi Rabiu, who sells shoes from a wheelbarrow in the same market, had already been apprehended.
The police say investigations are ongoing, and both men will be handed over to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for prosecution once initial inquiries are completed.
