Hon. Oluwole Oke, who represents Obokun/Oriade Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, has formally resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Oke, who also serves as Chairman of the House Committee on Foreign Affairs, announced his resignation in a letter dated April 16, which was addressed to the PDP Chairman of Ward 7 in Obokun Local Government Area.
The development was confirmed on Wednesday in Osogbo.
The lawmaker stated that his decision followed extensive consultations with his political associates, family members, and supporters.
He did not disclose any plans to join another political party.
“I wish to formally notify you that I am resigning my membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) with immediate effect,” the letter read.
“This was concluded after consultation and engagement with my political associates, family and friends. It is my wish that you accept my resignation in good faith.”
Oke, who is currently serving his fifth term in the National Assembly, has in recent months experienced strained relations with the PDP leadership in Osun State. The internal crisis has reportedly led to the emergence of factions within the party in his constituency.
