Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has officially parted ways with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and aligned himself with the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The development came to light after a private meeting held at the Government House in Asaba on Wednesday evening.
Confirming the move, the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, stated that the defection followed extensive discussions with key political figures and was driven by the desire to ensure lasting progress for the state.
Oborevwori, who won the 2023 governorship election on the PDP ticket, was welcomed into the APC fold by top party officials. Political observers have described the move as a major strategic shift with potential ripple effects ahead of the 2027 elections.
