No factions in NNPP — Party tells Ganduje to consult dictionary

Must read

The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has firmly denied claims of internal divisions, responding to recent remarks by Abdullahi Ganduje, Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

During an interview on News Central’s Politics HQ, NNPP’s National Publicity Secretary, Ladipo Johnson, dismissed Ganduje’s comments as baseless and irrelevant.

“First of all, Ganduje’s words are inconsequential,” Johnson stated. “Secondly, he should check a dictionary to understand the meaning of ‘faction’ or ‘factionalised’. The NNPP has no factions.”

Ganduje had alleged that the NNPP was plagued by persistent divisions. In response, Johnson argued that those being referred to are former members who had been expelled but continue to use outdated party materials and symbols.

“These individuals have been expelled. They still parade themselves with an old logo, which has been replaced. The current logo is registered with INEC, and there is no confusion about who leads the party,” he explained.

Johnson also accused the expelled members of exploiting the judicial system to secure a misleading judgment in Abia State.

“They went to a remote court in Abia, presented an outdated party constitution, and got a default judgment. Neither INEC nor the party was present. A motion has already been filed to set aside that ruling, and we expect a decision by June,” he said.

According to Johnson, the judgment was obtained under false pretenses, without acknowledging a previous Federal High Court ruling that confirmed their expulsion.

“It was done fraudulently. But we’re not disobeying the order—because it applies to a party structure that no longer exists,” he added.

He emphasized that NNPP had officially rebranded in April 2024, changing its logo and constitution to reflect a new direction, moving away from the old identity.

Concluding, Johnson dismissed Ganduje’s relevance in the matter: “As far as I’m concerned, Ganduje is a non-starter.”
