The Federal Government has ordered a thorough investigation into the alleged extortion of ₦5.2 million by operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) from a group of young travelers in Ekiti State.

The directive was issued by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, according to a statement from his media aide, Alao Babatunde.

The allegation, which surfaced in a viral post on social media, claimed that NSCDC officers extorted the large sum from youths who were en route from Ado-Ekiti to Akure in Ondo State.

Reacting to the development, Dr. Tunji-Ojo emphasized that any personnel found guilty would face the full weight of the law.

“We will not tolerate any form of misconduct from our security agencies,” he said. “We are committed to building a paramilitary service that is disciplined, professional, and serves the Nigerian people with dignity and patriotism.”

The minister further assured that justice will prevail in the matter and reaffirmed his ministry’s commitment to ensuring that all security personnel uphold integrity and accountability in the discharge of their duties.
