Lere Olayinka slams Ojudu, says Wike’s political record superior

Lere Olayinka, the Senior Special Adviser on Public Communications and Social Media to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has criticized Babafemi Ojudu, a former presidential aide, over recent comments made about his principal.

Olayinka said Wike has proven himself as a successful and accomplished politician, unlike Ojudu, whom he accused of misleading former President Olusegun Obasanjo into orchestrating the removal of a legitimately elected governor in Ekiti State.

His remarks were in response to a statement by Ojudu, who accused Wike of behaving “as though power lasts forever, and as if holding office makes one immortal.”

Ojudu, who previously served as Special Adviser on Political Matters to ex-President Muhammadu Buhari, had recently recounted how he played a role in the impeachment of former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose, an action he claimed was backed by Obasanjo.

Reacting in a statement, Olayinka said Ojudu has since faded from political relevance, especially after his preferred candidate failed to secure the APC presidential ticket in 2022.

“Egbon Femi Ojudu is clearly frustrated, but he should focus his anger on the poor judgment that led him to support the wrong candidate in the last presidential primary,” Olayinka stated.

He also mocked Ojudu for not fulfilling his public vow to retire from politics and take up farming after the APC primary loss.

“Has he started cultivating cocoyam and ewedu as he promised?” Olayinka queried.

He further criticized Ojudu’s role in the political crisis that rocked Ekiti years ago. “It’s ironic that someone who once led a political coup is now preaching about the temporariness of power,” he said.

“Wike’s track record speaks for itself. He is not like Ojudu, whose most notable political legacy was misleading Obasanjo into illegally removing an elected governor,” Olayinka added.
