Seven travelers have been abducted by gunmen along the Obbo-Aiyegunle road in the Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State, according to reports.

The incident occurred over the weekend when the victims were en route from Abuja to Offa in Kwara.

Sources confirmed that the gunmen, believed to number eight, ambushed the road and stopped a Sienna bus, registered under the Olumoh Bus transport company from Offa, at gunpoint.

The attack lasted about 20 minutes, during which the kidnappers forced seven passengers into the nearby forest, leaving three children behind on the bus.

Mr. Mukaila Ogunlade, the Secretary of the transport company, confirmed the abduction and revealed that the bus had originally departed with five passengers.

However, according to one of the children left behind, two additional passengers joined along the way. Ogunlade also mentioned that the company was currently searching for the seven missing individuals.

The attack occurred in an area that has faced increasing security concerns.

The State Police Commissioner, Mr. Adekemi Ojo, also verified the incident and stated that law enforcement, working alongside local vigilantes, had mobilized quickly to secure the release of the children left behind.

In an official statement issued on Sunday by the Kwara State Police Command, the abduction took place around 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 19, 2025, along the Obbo-Aiyegunle/Osi Road.

Police reported that the armed assailants seized the bus, which was headed to Offa from Abuja, and forcibly abducted seven passengers, including the driver.

Following the attack, a coordinated search led to the rescue of three children, aged between 2 and 12 years.

The children were safely reunited with their families after one of them provided critical details about their guardian.

The Kwara Police Command has vowed to continue its efforts through intelligence gathering and searching the surrounding areas to locate and rescue the remaining victims.

The Commissioner of Police, Mr. Adekemi Ojo, assured the public that the police would continue to work tirelessly to ensure the safety of residents, urging anyone with information about the kidnappers to come forward.
