The Kaduna State Police Command has apprehended six individuals suspected of involvement in kidnapping and confiscated four improvised AK-47 rifles during a series of operations across the state.

Police spokesperson DSP Mansir Hassan disclosed the arrests in a press release issued on Saturday.

According to Hassan, officers received actionable intelligence on Thursday around 3:20 pm, alerting them to the presence of a suspected kidnapper hiding in Gida Abe.

“Acting swiftly on the information, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Tafa Division immediately mobilised a surveillance team to the location,” Hassan explained.

The team arrested 30-year-old Isa Ibrahim at the scene. During questioning, the suspect admitted to being part of a kidnapping syndicate operating in Kwara State.

He also revealed that after his associates were captured there, he moved to Kaduna intending to regroup and start a new operation.

On the same day at approximately 3:30 pm, further intelligence reached the Saminaka Police Division about two suspected criminals spotted in Lamido village, Lere Local Government Area.

“Acting promptly on the tip-off, the DPO mobilised his patrol team to the location,” Hassan stated.

The officers captured two men: Sani Liman from Unguwan Fa, Rami Kura, and Murtala Magaji, also known as ‘Seto’, from Dambata in Galadimawa village, both of Kauru LGA.

The suspects reportedly admitted their involvement in multiple kidnappings in the region.

Another breakthrough came on Friday evening at about 6:00 pm when intelligence tipped off Ikara Division police about two suspected arms traffickers in transit with weapons.

The suspects, Bajo Badun of Vom Quarters in Jos and Magaji Abdullahi of Bargi village, Bebeji LGA, Kano State, were arrested with two crafted AK-47 rifles.

Hassan also recounted an earlier incident that same Friday at 4:30 am. A patrol unit spotted a man acting suspiciously along the Kauru-Pambegua Road.

“The individual was promptly intercepted by the officers for a search,” Hassan said. “Upon searching the sack, the patrol team discovered two locally fabricated rifles and a long chain, which were carefully concealed within.”

The suspect, identified as Ishiyaku Ali from Bakin Dutse in Kauru LGA, was taken into custody.

Hassan confirmed that all suspects are currently being held and are assisting investigators by providing critical leads.
