A fire broke out at Kurmi (Yan’ Jagal) Market in Kano on Friday, completely destroying six shops, according to the Kano State Fire Service.
Saminu Abdullahi, the Public Relations Officer for the Fire Service, issued a statement confirming the incident, which occurred early Friday morning.
The fire was reported to the service at around 1:35 a.m. by the Jakara Police Division.
In response, the Fire Service quickly deployed a fire truck to the scene to manage and control the blaze, Abdullahi stated.
While the fire caused significant damage, six shops were burned down entirely, there were no reported injuries or fatalities.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
The Fire Service also advised traders and residents to turn off electrical appliances and disconnect their power sources when not in use to prevent future incidents.
