Nigerian navy nabs suspects linked to kidnap of officer in Abuja

Two men suspected of being involved in the abduction of Nigerian Navy officer Lieutenant Cynthia Akor in Abuja have been captured.

The suspects, identified as Buhari Adamu and Samaila Usman, were arrested alongside another accomplice, Mu’Awiya Belo, during a joint operation conducted by naval personnel around Masaka Hills in Nasarawa State.

Lt. Akor, her sister, and another victim were kidnapped on March 21 in the Mpape area. The attackers had reportedly stormed Maman Vatsa Estate, blocking the road and indiscriminately firing at vehicles and pedestrians.

The victims were eventually rescued two days later following a raid in Karu by security operatives.

Further investigations led to the arrest of two suspects, who were later handed over to the Federal Capital Territory Police Command.

Among the recovered items were various bank ATM cards, mobile phones, a wristwatch, and a motorcycle.

Commodore Oluseyi Oladipo, who oversees the naval unit, stated that the arrests were the result of a collaborative security effort and affirmed the suspects admitted to participating in kidnapping and cattle rustling.
