Gunmen on Thursday evening attacked the Faruruwa community in Shanono Local Government Area of Kano State, abducting the son of a well-known local trader.
The incident reportedly took place around 7pm, when the armed men stormed the area and began firing shots into the air to scare residents.
Eyewitness Ibrahim Faruruwa explained that the gunmen had initially targeted Alhaji Haruna Halilu, a respected businessman in the community.
However, they were unable to find him at his shop during the raid.
“In his absence, they kidnapped his son, Mas’ud,” Ibrahim stated.
Spokesperson for the Kano State Police Command, Abdullahi Kiyawa, confirmed the attack, noting that an investigation is currently underway. He added that further details will be released once the inquiry is complete.
As of the time of this report, it remains unclear whether there were any injuries or additional abductions during the incident.
