Residents of Faruruwa in Kano State’s Shanono LGA were left in shock following a violent attack by suspected bandits during the town’s lively night market on Thursday.
Witnesses said the assailants stormed the area under the cover of darkness, shooting sporadically and causing panic among traders and customers.
The attack led to the killing of Alhaji Rabilu, a widely respected businessman in the community.
Security commentator Bakatsine broke the news via social media, stating, “The bandits came at night while the market was ongoing.
“They killed a well-known figure, injured two people, and kidnapped another. It was a devastating scene.”
No official response has come from local authorities yet, but the community is gripped by fear, with many expressing concern over growing insecurity.
One local, who chose not to be named, shared their distress. “It’s becoming unbearable. We need protection. We can’t even trade in peace anymore,” the person said.
Security agencies are believed to be tracking the culprits, as search efforts intensify to find the kidnapped victim and restore calm to the town.
